The Bonassar Research Group is a lab at Cornell that focuses on the regeneration of tissues damaged by osteoarthritis (OA), including bone, cartilage, and meniscus. Areas of research include cartilage mechanics, bioprinting, and lubrication. I have five semesters of experience at the lab. During emester 1, I explored the underlying pathology of the OA. Next, I investigated mitochondrial transfer from mesenchymal stem cells to chondrocytes as a potential therapeutic strategy during semesters 2 + 3. Finally, my work for semesters 4 + 5 focused on viscosupplementation as a treatment approach.
